/'Digital Dance' is an interactive audio-visual work that explores the threshold between physical presence and digital embodiment. Created using TouchDesigner and a Kinect sensor, the piece transforms live movement into reactive point cloud visuals, inviting viewers to dance and witness their gestures ripple and distort across a projected space. Each step, sway, and rhythm becomes data, translated into a living tapestry of shifting light, colour and form.

Layered within the projection are the shifting names of music genres chosen for their deep connection to my own joy of dance. These words fade and layer across the digital field, hinting at the music that accompanies and inspires the act of dancing. As participants move, their bodies intersect with these genre names, creating fleeting connections between motion, memory, and sound’s cultural traces.

The work exists both as an evolving archive of dance, rhythm, and movement, and as a real-time performance that dissolves the body into code and light. In this duality, Digital Dance imagines choreography inhabiting an in-between space, where physical presence, digital translation, and the joyful impulse to dance converge in momentary harmony.
